An absolutely delightful cat charm necklace by American designer Laurel Burch. It is vintage and dates to 1993.
It features 16 cat charms on a chain with a fold over clasp. The necklace is gold tone metal and 10 of the charms have coloured enamelling in their design. There are 7 charms that are repeated (ie pairs) and two that are individual. They are all placed at random on the chain.
Each charm is individually signed or stamped. Some contain the name of the design as well. E.g. 'Jungle Cat', 'Blossom Cat' etc. Also some are dated with the year.
Laurel Burch was American artist who was reknowned for her bold and bright artwork featuring cats. She started producing jewellery in the late 1960s/early 70s. Although she passed away in 2007 her company still produces her vibrant feline designs. Her older pieces are harder to find and are quite collectable. This one is quite a rarity!
This is such a charming and rare necklace.
It comes with it's original box and original paper tag signed by Laurel Burch.
