This is a striking statement necklace by Accessocraft dating to the 1970s

Accessocraft NYC was a prominent American costume jewellery house founded in the 1930s in New York City and operated until 1998. Known for bold, high-quality gold-tone pieces, often featuring Gothic, Renaissance, or Byzantine influences, the brand became popular for its enamel work, statement brooches, and unique necklaces.

This stunning necklace captures the grandeur and allure of ancient Egypt with a bold, runway-ready presence.

Featuring an oversized medallion design of two Egyptian scarab solar discs (representing the Kephri sun god*) in richly textured gold-tone metal. The discs and tassel drops feature glass intaglio scarab cabochon stones in vibrant colors.

The gold tone chain links are designed as 'pillars' of approximately 1inch in length.

The jewelled scarab cabochons and intricate detailing evoke Egyptian Revival themes while also nodding to 1960s and 1970s design trends that embraced Art Deco and exotic inspirations. This unique piece is an enticing mix of high fashion and historical homage.

The necklace is in excellent condition and fastens with a spring ring clasp. There are signed plaques to the back of each medallion together with a signed tag within the chain at the clasp.

*Kephri Sun God

Khepri is an ancient Egyptian sun god represented as a scarab beetle, symbolising creation, renewal and the rising sun.
Its symbolism represents the sun god's daily rebirth, often depicted rolling the sun across the sky similar to a beetle rolling dung
The name comes from the Egyptian word kheper, meaning "to come into being" or "transformation".  Scarab amulets were popular as good-luck charms for both the living and the dead.
