This stunning 1960s Whiting & Davis snake belt or necklace in their distinctive metal mesh is an extremely collectible piece of design history. This piece was part of their 'Mesh - Mates' collection.
A classic, it is as stylish today as when it was first designed. Completely adjustable, the snake head clips on the mesh belt anywhere along the length making it work wonderfully as a belt or necklace.
The Whiting & Davis stamp is on the clasp on the underside of the snake's head.
Founded in the late 1800s, Whiting & Davis is an American company famous for their mesh bags and accessories. In 1963, Whiting & Davis collaborated with Vogue, Twentieth Century Fox, and several other high-end designers to promote the film Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. Whiting & Davis launched the "Cleopatra Collection" inspired by Cleopatra's dramatic accessories for the film.
It is in excellent condition and comes with the original box which shows signs of wear.
