A beautiful cream chiffon print dress by reknowned vintage label Jean Varon. The brand created by British designer John Bates in 1960. This dress is part of a collection acquired directly from his family.
Dating to the early 1970s, with a satin ribbon edged pretty chiffon print overlay with side splits, this is a fun dress.
The print, on both back and front overlays, features flowers and fruits in soft peach and green tints. The whole of the front and back overlay pieces are satin ribbon edged in cream. The overlay pieces are softly pleated into the top of the dress to give a lovely overall swing when worn. The plain cream 'underdress' is of simple shift style in a jersey polyester with a side zip measuring 10 inches.
The shoulders have matching cream satin ribbon ties.
The hem of both the underdress and the overlay pieces have been shortened during its past life. This does not detract from the dress design.
The dress is in excellent condition.
