A beautiful ivory chiffon maxi dress which we understand is by reknowned vintage label Jean Varon. The brand created by British designer John Bates in 1960. This dress is part of a collection acquired directly from his family. However it carries no label.
Featuring a soft seashell print in mauve at the bottom of the dress with matching mauve zigzag overstitching at the hem, waist and cape sleeve edges, this is a gorgeously romantic dress.
The dress has an acetate full lining which has a shoestring strap bodice with a straight across the bust neckline. Over this sits an integrated chiffon cape top with a deep 'V' neckline at the front. It has 4 covered buttons with rouleaux loop fastening down the back from the neck to the waist. Underneath this is a back zip in the lining measuring 13 inches.
The waist features a wide chiffon waist band which ruches in when tied at the back. See images. The waistline has been let out slightly at the back but this does not affect the design of the dress.
The dress is in excellent condition.
