This is a beautiful silk scarf dating to the 1980s. Released as part of a limited collection by the Royal Academy of Arts to showcase the work of Royal Academy artist Donald Hamilton Fraser.
True to Fraser’s famous expressionist style, this scarf showcase vibrant, bold, and heavily layered abstract imagery. Drawing inspiration from his signature themes, such as coastal landscapes, seascapes, and bright, blocks of colour including hues of red, purple and yellow wirh black.
Printed on high-quality 100% pure silk twill with hand-rolled edges, characteristic of premium labels.
It will have been printed in the UK by Beckford Silk, a company famous for collaborating with major museums and artists.
Because these scarves were limited-edition releases from 20th-century museum collaborations, they are no longer sold as new.
They are viewed as "wearable art" and often collectors choose to professionally frame them as wall art instead of wearing them.
The scarf is in excellent condition with no stains, marks or pulls. The rolled edges are plump.
