Art Deco Celluloid Hair Comb

It is made from an early plastic called celluloid, and the colouring imitates natural tortoiseshell.

The design is intricately pierce-cut with a gorgeous floral pattern representing a vase like urn display of flowers and foliage

These types of large, decorative combs are often referred to as Spanish combs or peinetas, historically worn under a mantilla (a long lace veil). 

The comb features five curved teeth and a decorative fan-shaped top. It is in excellent condition with no damage or cracks.
