Always sought after and collectable is this Victorian 'star' brooch.
Beautifully hand made of sterling silver (stamped 927 on the bar of the clasp) set with paste cushion cut glass stones this is an eight pointed example. There are eight stones at the base of each point and one larger central stone. All are firmly set.
It has been cleaned/polished to the back but the original patina of age remains on the front face. It has a firm holding 'C' clasp catch to the back in a gold tone metal (possibly an old replacement/repair). The cushion cut stones also show slight wear comensurate with a piece that is well over 100 years old. See pics.
It measures approx 1.5inches across (3.5cms).
All in all, a lovely brooch and an ideal present for someone special.
