This is an exquisite original and rare 1930s dress.
Bespoke and beautifully hand tailored in a soft rust and black narrow striped fabric. This fabric, probably a wool or wool blend crepe twill, epitomises the Art Deco era.
Dresses like this are not only rare but even rarer to find in this condition. Not surprising when it's close to 100 years old!
The high sharp collared neckline highlights the elegance of the dress. The perfect matching of the stripes creating the Chevron pattern on the skirt and the exquisitely shaped narrow patch pockets which extend from the waistline to the bust accentuate the skill of the tailoring. The more you examine the dress the more the level of design and tailoring impresses.
Cut on the bias the dress drapes beautifully giving a superb fit and look. It has a matching narrow fabric tie belt which finishes the dress off perfectly.
The dress fastens with seven fabric covered buttons with rouleau loops at the back at the nape of the neck. It also has five fabric covered buttons (again with rouleau loops) at each cuff to allow the hand to pass through the sleeve. It has an opening to the left side seam at the waist which fastens with press studs to allow the dress to be put on over the head.
It has the original angular stuffed fabric shoulder pads.
It has a matching fabric tie belt.
It is in excellent condition.
This is one piece you will treasure!
