This is a really pretty soft cotton slip from the 1920s or possibly earlier.
It's what I call something of a 'wounded bird'. Which means it's not perfect but if you like a piece that shows its history and love over the years then this one's for you.
We think it was originally white and at some point in its life it has been dyed. We would describe it's current shade as a taupe (very wearable neutral and versatile grey/brown).
Due to the dying it has a kind of a shaded hue with a faded patchiness and markings about it which we think adds to its charm. Our price reflects it's condition.
Entirely handmade it has net lace which has unusual satin stitch padded 'buttons' dots integral to it. The lace crosses over in a 'V' at the front and likewise under the arms at each side.The straps are also the same lace.
It has tiny pitch pleats at the top of the bust and the back panels.
The back fastens with tiny shell buttons hidden behind a placket.
It is in excellent vintage condition.
We think this would make a lovely lightweight holiday sundress that would go with everything. Daytime on the back with sliders and dressed up with gold jewellery and sandals in the evening.
But be quick....it's a good size for an antique piece!
