This is a rare black rayon satin camisole from the 1920s.
It is hand made and features rouleau tape details with faggotwork embroidery around the top. Across the front the rouleau work is three tapes deep which tapers to one tape deep at each side and around the back.
It has black ribbon straps (0.625ins wide) and a small 2.5inch side opening on a hook and eye fastening at the bottom to the left. Around the bottom of the camisole there is a slightly elasticated channel to give ease of fit under the bust. Note that there are no bust darts or shaping at the bust.
It is in excellent condition.
It would look fabulous as a slightly cropped top or worn underneath a jacket.
