Underfunded she  improvised by working from home buying any fabrics she thought interesting or amusing, especially prints on thin cottons and silks, adding ribbons and lace. Fratini used significant yardage and cut on the bias, a technique then out of style. Hence she was seldom copied by the rag trade as her pricey originals were difficult and expensive to copy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHer designs were very romantic incorporating frill and flounces and soft flowing whimsical details. It features a split to at the back neckline with ties.  It also has small splits at the cuffs with similar ties.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe skirt is mid to ankle length depending on your height. It has an elasticated channel at the waist. The top 5ins (13cms) of the skirt from the waist is elasticated smocking. This is designed to form a deep waist band. There are no openings and therefore the skirt is a 'pull on' style. The skirt has pockets set in the side seams at the hip below the waist smocking.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere is also a tie in the same fabric. A single piece measuring 44ins (112cms) long by 9.5ins (24cms) wide.  This could be tied at the neckline or around the waist depending on your preference.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe two pieces are in excellent condition. However, the Jean Varon label in the skirt is frayed with the cleaning and fabric labels partially detached (see pics). There are no labels in the top.
